QUETTA:A high-level meeting was held in Quetta under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan to review the progress of the Quetta Development Package (QDP). The meeting focused on the ongoing priority projects aimed at improving infrastructure, public services, and economic opportunities in the city.

During the briefing, the Chief Secretary emphasized that the timely completion of these development projects will significantly contribute to enhancing business activities, generating employment, and reducing unemployment in the region. He stated that the development package is a major step towards ensuring economic stability in Quetta and improving the quality of life for its residents.

Shakeel Qadir Khan expressed satisfaction over the pace of most priority projects and instructed all concerned departments to ensure that they are completed within the designated timeframe. He highlighted that infrastructure upgrades—such as road construction and welfare projects—will create an enabling environment for investment and industrial growth.

One of the key initiatives discussed was the plan to move overhead electricity cables underground along Airport Road. This project is part of the city’s beautification and safety enhancement drive, aimed at reducing the risk of accidents and improving the city’s overall appearance.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary for Development Zahid Saleem, Secretary Communications Lal Jan Jaffar, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, Commissioner Quetta Shah Zaman Kakar, the Project Director, and other senior officials.

The Chief Secretary concluded by reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to the socio-economic development of Quetta and directed all stakeholders to maintain transparency, efficiency, and speed in the execution of projects.
