Schools Closed in Karachi as Heavy Rain Disrupts City Life

Karachi:Authorities announced a **holiday for all educational institutions** in Karachi on Tuesday due to ongoing rainfall across the city. Commissioner Karachi confirmed that schools will remain closed and a formal notification has been issued.

The **Dow University of Health Sciences** also postponed its scheduled examinations, with new dates to be announced later.

Since Tuesday morning, various parts of the city, including **Malir, Quaidabad, Shah Faisal Colony, Surjani Town, Safora, Gulistan-e-Johar, Sohrab Goth, Saddar, Clifton, and Shahrah-e-Faisal**, have witnessed intermittent light to heavy showers.

By Tuesday evening, an **intense spell of rain** caused waterlogging in several areas such as **Shahrah-e-Faisal, Drigh Road underpass, Model Colony, Rashid Minhas Road, NIPA, Safora, and Malir**, severely disrupting traffic flow. Other neighborhoods, including **Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, Nazimabad, and SITE Area**, also experienced heavy downpours.

The **Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)** has warned that a **new rain spell** is likely to hit Karachi within the next **24 to 48 hours**, as the system’s core is yet to fully approach the city.
