PkNAP Announces Grand Protest Rally in Quetta on September 17

Quetta:The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) has announced that it will hold a massive protest rally on **Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 3 PM** from the party’s central secretariat in Quetta.
According to a press release issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, the demonstration aims to draw the government and administration’s attention to the grave problems faced by the people of Balochistan, particularly Quetta and its surrounding areas.
The statement highlighted that **unannounced and prolonged electricity load-shedding** and **gas shortages** have made life unbearable for residents, with the crisis worsening ahead of winter. It also condemned the **unjust arrests of motorcyclist youth**, calling it a blatant violation of human rights, and noted the deteriorating law and order situation.
PkNAP further pointed to **skyrocketing prices of essential commodities**, especially flour, which has gone beyond the reach of ordinary citizens, hitting the poor and middle class hardest.
On civic issues, the statement strongly criticized the **failure of the “Safa Quetta Project”**, a multi-billion-rupee scheme meant to improve sanitation. Instead, the city is plagued by garbage heaps, clogged drains, foul-smelling streets, and unhygienic conditions, raising serious public health risks, including outbreaks of **dengue, cholera, and other diseases**.
The press release also expressed grave concern over **search operations and arrests of Afghan refugees**, stressing that inhumane treatment of refugees violates humanitarian and international principles.
PkNAP has appealed to **citizens, workers, students, traders, civil society, human rights activists, and political and social groups** to participate in the peaceful rally and fulfill their democratic duty. Party units and workers have been instructed to mobilize actively to ensure the protest’s success.
