High Flood Expected at Guddu Barrage Today; Evacuations Underway in Sindh’s Riverine Areas

Sehwan: A high flood surge is expected to reach Guddu Barrage today, raising the risk of flooding in Sindh’s riverine (katcha) areas. Authorities have begun making announcements urging residents of river belts in Sehwan to evacuate.

Sindh Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that all necessary arrangements have been completed to deal with the incoming flood.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Owais Qadir Shah, during his visit to Sukkur Barrage, stated that the situation will become clearer once the floodwaters reach Panjnad and Guddu Barrages.

Irrigation officials assured that work is being carried out at vulnerable points of protective embankments and confirmed that Sukkur Barrage is not under any threat.

In Multan, pressure on the Shershah flood embankment remains persistent, while in Jhang, a high flood level continues at Head Trimmu.
