Atif Aslam Responds to Criticism Over Performing After Father’s Death

TORONTO: World-renowned Pakistani singer **Atif Aslam** has responded to critics who questioned his decision to perform at a concert just a day after his father’s passing.

Atif Aslam’s father passed away in Lahore last month, and the very next day the singer performed at a **Independence Day concert** at Karachi’s cricket stadium. While many fans praised his professionalism and dedication, others criticized him for not taking time off to mourn.

Currently on a concert tour in Canada, Atif Aslam addressed the criticism during an interview with Indian-origin journalist and host **Faridoon Shahryar**.

> “After my father’s death, everyone had something to say. People were talking about me performing the next day. What’s happening in my home is becoming their channel’s content,” he remarked.

The singer emphasized that his responsibility is to his art, not to satisfy public judgment.

> “It’s not my job to tell people what to do or not to do. I cannot have relations with the entire world. My work is art—appreciate me for my art, dislike me for my music, but don’t dictate my personal choices,” he added.

Atif Aslam’s statement has sparked fresh debate, with many fans supporting his stance on maintaining professionalism despite personal tragedy.
