Punjab Imposes Section 144 to Ensure Uninterrupted Supply of Wheat, Flour, and Bread

LAHORE: The Punjab government has imposed **Section 144 across the province** to ensure the uninterrupted supply of wheat, flour, and bread.

According to the Home Department’s spokesperson, the order—issued by the provincial home secretary—prohibits the use of wheat in **feed mills**, restricting its utilization solely to flour mills for the production of flour.

The move comes amid concerns over a potential wheat shortage in the province. Officials stated that feed mills currently hold **104,184 metric tons of wheat**, which was reportedly being diverted for poultry feed production.

The spokesperson emphasized that wheat is a **basic food necessity for humans** and must be prioritized for flour production. As per the notification, feed mills are barred from using wheat for **30 days**, ensuring that the essential grain remains available for public consumption.
