PM Shehbaz: Pakistan Benefiting from China’s Expertise and Technology

Beijing: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is making full use of China’s expertise and technology, with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) playing a key role in reviving the country’s agriculture and industry.

Speaking at the second Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference in Beijing, the Prime Minister highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two nations, describing it as one built on respect, trust, and cooperation. Several agreements and MoUs were signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies during the event.

Shehbaz Sharif recalled that Pakistan once faced power outages lasting up to 20 hours a day, but the launch of CPEC under former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government helped overcome the energy crisis within three years. He credited Chinese investment for projects such as the Orange Line Metro Train, power plants, and dams.

He noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s historic 2015 visit to Pakistan laid the foundation for CPEC, which brought in \$35 billion in investments. “Through CPEC, our agriculture and industries have been revived,” he said, adding that 60% of Pakistan’s economy depends on agriculture, where Chinese support has been critical.

The Prime Minister further emphasized Pakistan-China cooperation in the mining and minerals sector, calling the collaboration a model for economic partnership.
