Ahsan Iqbal Highlights New Opportunities Under CPEC 2.0 During Visit to Tianjin

Beijing: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, visited Tianjin on the sidelines of the SCO summit, where he discussed new avenues of Pakistan–China cooperation under the upgraded phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0).
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said CPEC 2.0 offers immense opportunities to strengthen Pakistan’s ports, renewable energy, and livestock sectors. He toured the Huan Sheng New Energy Solar Plant, describing it as a fully automated project representing the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and emphasized that Pakistan will greatly benefit from such advanced energy initiatives.
He further noted that biotechnology is a key area of agricultural cooperation with China, with platforms being developed to utilize Chinese technology and expertise. Stressing that the future lies in solar and green energy, Iqbal invited the Chinese company to invest in Pakistan, highlighting the government’s plans to establish modern research centers as a guarantee of future growth.
During the visit, the minister also inspected a major Chinese animal vaccine manufacturing company, which has offered to set up a plant in Pakistan. He said livestock is a vital pillar of Pakistan’s agricultural economy, and ensuring disease-free animals will help increase meat exports.
Ahsan Iqbal underlined that CPEC 2.0 will elevate Pakistan–China cooperation to new heights and play a crucial role in driving regional development.
