Severe Flooding Continues in Punjab as Chenab, Sutlej and Ravi Rivers Overflow; Floodwaters Enter Sindh

Lahore: Punjab remains in the grip of severe flooding as water levels in the **Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers** continue to rise, submerging hundreds of villages and displacing thousands of people.

At **Head Panjnad**, the inflow and outflow of the Chenab River was recorded at **609,669 cusecs**, while at **Head Trimmu**, the flow stood at **543,000 cusecs**. Officials confirmed that a local embankment in **Jalalpur Pirwala** developed a breach, inundating dozens of villages and forcing residents to take shelter on rooftops. The Shah Rasool and Bet Wahi embankments collapsed, while water also entered homes in Bahadurpur.

Authorities have declared an **emergency in Shujaabad and Jalalpur Pirwala**, ordering the evacuation of Jalalpur Pirwala city. Rescue operations have been reinforced with **50 additional boats and five drones**. Efforts are underway to protect the main city embankment as rising waters threaten to breach it.

At **Akbar Flood Embankment**, the water level has risen to **412.3 feet**, while in **Jhang**, a second flood wave in the Chenab has affected over **300 villages**, destroying standing crops on **281,000 acres of land**. In **Muzaffargarh’s Azmatpur**, another embankment breach submerged several settlements, forcing **over 7,000 people to evacuate**.

Meanwhile, in **Bahawalpur**, the **Sutlej River** has swelled to dangerous levels, with floodwaters reaching settlements near the Northern Bypass. The Sutlej’s flow was recorded at **319,000 cusecs**, with high flood levels at **Head Sulemanki** and medium flood levels at **Head Islam**.

The **Ravi River** also showed a significant surge, with flows of **139,000 cusecs at Head Balloki** and **123,000 cusecs at Head Sidhnai**.

The floodwaters have now started entering Sindh. At **Guddu Barrage**, inflows have crossed **400,000 cusecs**, creating a medium-level flood. In **Rajanpur**, floodwaters in the Indus River have accelerated through the **Kacha areas**, with authorities shifting residents to safer locations.
