World Bank Prepares \$40 Billion Concessional Loan Package for Pakistan

Islamabad:The World Bank has finalized a concessional loan package for Pakistan, under which the country will receive a total of **\$40 billion over the next 10 years**.
According to officials from the Economic Affairs Division, under the **Country Partnership Framework**, Pakistan will secure **\$20 billion at a concessional interest rate of just 2 percent** through the **International Development Association (IDA)** and the **International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)**.
An additional **\$20 billion will be provided through the International Finance Corporation (IFC)** at relatively higher rates to encourage private sector investment.
Officials said the funds will be directed towards tackling **climate change risks, unexpected rains and floods, poverty reduction, food insecurity, child stunting, education improvements, agricultural development, and inclusive economic growth**.
The financing will also support initiatives for **clean energy promotion, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution control, and development in transport, industry, and construction sectors**.
The Economic Affairs Division confirmed that the preparation of a national implementation plan under the Country Partnership Framework is in its final stages. Once completed, the World Bank will begin disbursing the funds.
