“BBC Stands for ‘Brother Brother Channel,’ Clarifies Viral Reporter Mehrulnisa”

Lahore: Mehrulnisa, the reporter who gained fame for her unique reporting style during the recent floods in Punjab and the visit of the Iranian President to Lahore, has finally clarified the misconception that she is affiliated with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The Lahore-based reporter became widely popular on social media due to her distinctive Punjabi-style reporting. Recent videos of her reporting from flood-affected areas went viral, as did her coverage of the Iranian President’s visit to Lahore. In the viral videos, Mehrulnisa was seen holding a microphone branded with “BBC Urdu Punjabi News TV,” which closely resembled the logo of the BBC’s official microphone. This led to widespread speculation that she was working for BBC Urdu.

However, following the viral videos, BBC Urdu officially issued a clarification, stating that Mehrulnisa is not associated with their organization in any capacity, nor had the network given her permission to use their name or logo. BBC further clarified that a private digital media company was using their name and logo without authorization. They advised viewers to verify any news or videos before accepting them as authentic by consulting BBC’s official platforms.

In response to the clarification, Mehrulnisa explained that the “BBC” on her microphone does not stand for the British Broadcasting Corporation but rather for “Brother Brother Channel.” She added that she was not imitating any institution, and if BBC had any concerns, they could directly contact her.

Her videos, including her coverage of the Iranian President’s visit and the recent floods, have sparked much interest and humor among social media users, who have been making amusing comments about her unique approach to reporting.
