Imran Khan Cannot Endure Jail Like Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Did, Says Capt (R) Safdar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader and son-in-law of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Capt (R) Muhammad Safdar, has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan “cannot bear the kind of prison hardships” that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz endured.
In an interview, Safdar said, *“I have witnessed Attock Fort and Karachi’s Landhi Jail. Even if Imran Khan spends 25 years in jail, he cannot face the kind of torment Nawaz Sharif and Maryam went through. His prison life is filled with comforts—jogging machines, air conditioning, hand massages, desi chicken, custard at night, and gurh rice.”*
When asked how he knew about such details, Safdar replied that just like Imran Khan has a “spiritual network,” he too has one. He further remarked that Khan “performed ablution only once in his life, and it is still running for him.”
Regarding Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, Safdar stated that the Punjab government had not imposed any hardships on her. He compared this with Nawaz Sharif’s treatment of women, saying, *“Nawaz Sharif treats daughters like daughters and sisters like sisters.”*
On the political front, Safdar also addressed claims about PML-N’s loss in Hazara during the February 2024 general elections. He denied the defeat, asserting that the people of Hazara voted for Nawaz Sharif, but “mistakes were made in vote counting.” He challenged the winning candidate to resign and contest again, saying the truth would then become clear.
It may be recalled that Nawaz Sharif contested from Hazara in the 2024 general elections but lost, securing his National Assembly seat from NA-130 Lahore against PTI leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid—a result still under dispute by PTI.
