Maryam Nawaz’s Lavish Outfits During Foreign Tour Spark Public Debate

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to Japan, where she held several high-level meetings, has become the center of public discussion — not for the diplomacy, but for her expensive attire and accessories, which have gone viral on social media.

According to entertainment and news platform *Showbiz & News* on X, Maryam Nawaz was spotted wearing high-end fashion items during her appearance at the World Expo 2025 venue in Osaka. She reportedly wore shoes from the luxury brand *Salvatore Ferragamo*, which, according to the platform, cost a staggering **\$27,900** — approximately **PKR 7.9 million**. While there has been no official confirmation or denial, the price tag has triggered widespread public reaction.

Some users on X claimed that the actual price of the shoes is around **\$850**, to which *Showbiz & News* responded with a new post stating that the shoes are currently retailing at **\$17,834**, and once import duties and taxes are added, the total reaches **\$27,900**.

During her visit, Maryam Nawaz was also hosted at a dinner in her honor by Thailand’s former Prime Minister and telecom tycoon **Thaksin Shinawatra**, which was also attended by Thailand’s youngest former female Prime Minister, **Paetongtarn Shinawatra**. Maryam shared photos of the event on social media.

The photo drew attention not just for the high-profile company but also for her attire. As per *Showbiz & News*, Maryam Nawaz was carrying a luxury **Cartier handbag** priced at **PKR 1.2 million**, and wearing **Roger Vivier shoes** worth **PKR 440,000**. Her outfit, in contrast, was from Pakistani brand **Parniyaan**, priced at **PKR 70,000**.

While some admired her fashion sense, many users online questioned the extravagance of such choices by a public official during a time of economic hardship in the country. The debate continues, fueling broader conversations about accountability, image, and leadership in Pakistan.
