Heavy Rains Trigger Landslides in Occupied Kashmir, 13 Killed

SRINAGAR:Torrential rains continued for the third consecutive day in Indian-occupied Kashmir, causing widespread destruction and deadly landslides that claimed at least 13 lives.
According to Indian media, Jammu received 360 millimeters of rainfall between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The downpour also affected Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, and adjoining hilly regions.
Authorities confirmed that 13 people were killed in landslides, with fatalities reported from Doda and along the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route.
In response to the severe weather, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions and offices, excluding essential services and law enforcement departments.
The Indian Meteorological Department stated that the rain-bearing system remains active over southwest Jammu, Kathua, and parts of Udhampur, warning of continued moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas.
