U.S. Suspends Issuance of Work Visas for Foreign Commercial Truck Drivers

Washington: The United States has immediately suspended the issuance of work visas for foreign commercial truck drivers. The announcement was made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio via the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Rubio stated, “Effective immediately, we are halting the issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers. The growing number of foreign drivers operating large trailer trucks on American roads is putting American lives at risk and reducing job opportunities for American truckers.”
The decision comes amid rising calls to protect domestic jobs in the country’s transport and logistics sector. Government sources say the move is aimed at safeguarding the interests of American citizens and ensuring greater safety on U.S. highways.
