PM Shehbaz Launches One Million Digital Wallet Accounts Under BISP; Free Mobile SIM Distribution Also Begins

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially launched **one million digital wallet accounts** under the **Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)**, marking a significant step toward financial inclusion and digital empowerment of women across Pakistan.
In addition, following the Prime Minister’s directives, the government has also started distributing **one million free mobile SIM cards** to beneficiaries, facilitating easier access to digital financial services.
Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the introduction of digital wallets under BISP as a “major breakthrough.” He congratulated the BISP team and stakeholders for their efforts and emphasized that the new system will allow women to **receive financial support from the comfort of their homes**.
“This is a big milestone. Digital wallets will empower women, promote transparency, and move Pakistan closer to a cashless economy,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the initiative is a tribute to the legacy of **Benazir Bhutto**, whose vision continues to inspire the programme.
The initiative is expected to not only streamline disbursements but also boost digital literacy and economic participation among underprivileged women.
