No Tolerance for Attacks on NFC Award and 18th Amendment: National Party

Quetta: The **National Party** has strongly condemned the federal government’s reported plans to **restructure the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award** and reduce the financial share of provincial units, calling it an unconstitutional move and a direct **attack on the 18th Amendment**.

In an official statement, the party’s central spokesperson warned that any attempt to roll back the hard-won provisions of the **1973 Constitution** and the **historic 18th Amendment of 2009** would face firm **public and political resistance**.

The spokesperson emphasized that the 18th Amendment, achieved after intense political struggle against dictatorial regimes, **strengthened provincial autonomy**, **blocked authoritarian tendencies**, and **ensured constitutional protection** for the NFC Award. Rather than reversing these gains, the focus should be on **enhancing financial and administrative powers** of the provinces, the party asserted.

The statement further accused the ruling elite of attempting to cover up **their incompetence and corruption** by targeting provincial shares. Any **reduction in provincial allocations**, the party warned, would **cripple development efforts and severely impact public welfare**.

The National Party declared that it would **not accept any conspiracy to roll back the 18th Amendment or undermine the NFC Award**, and vowed to launch strong **public and political resistance** to defend the constitutional rights of Pakistan’s federating units.
