Dar Reaffirms Stronger Ties During Visit to Bangladesh; Six Key Agreements Signed
Dhaka – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Bangladesh’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain, during his official visit to Dhaka. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, resulting in the signing of six key agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both delegations discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including high-level engagements, trade and economic cooperation, people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, educational collaboration, capacity building, and humanitarian concerns.
Regional and international issues, such as the revival of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the Palestine issue, and the Rohingya crisis, were also discussed during the meeting.

Senator Dar led the Pakistani delegation, while the Bangladeshi side was headed by Foreign Affairs Adviser Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain. Senior officials from both countries participated in the discussions, which focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities for regional collaboration, particularly through SAARC.
Following the talks, a signing ceremony was held where six significant MoUs and agreements were inked. These include:
* Visa exemption for diplomats and government officials
* MoU between the foreign service academies of both countries
* News exchange agreement between Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS)
* MoU between Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS)
* Formation of a Trade Joint Working Group
* Cultural Exchange Program for 2025–2028
Earlier, Senator Dar also held crucial trade and investment discussions with Bangladesh’s Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin. The meeting included senior officials from both countries’ commercial and investment sectors, including the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and heads of various government trade bodies and regulatory authorities.
The visit marks a significant step forward in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, focusing on mutual growth, regional cooperation, and long-term diplomatic engagement.
