41 FIA Officials Dismissed Over Human Trafficking Charges in 2024: Minister of State for Interior

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior, Senator Talal Chaudhry, revealed that 41 officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) were dismissed in 2024 for their alleged involvement in human trafficking, while 63 individuals were nominated in various related cases.
During a Senate session chaired by Deputy Chairman Syedal Khan, Senator Shahadat Awan raised concerns, stating that 51 FIA personnel involved in human trafficking had been terminated and questioned whether any punitive action had been taken against them.
Responding to the query, Senator Talal Chaudhry clarified that in 2024 alone, 41 FIA personnel were removed from service, and 63 individuals were implicated in multiple cases. He added that only 16 of them had been acquitted so far, and the prosecution is currently appealing those acquittals.
Senator Dinesh Kumar expressed concern that action had primarily been taken against lower-grade employees, questioning how many officers above Grade 17 had faced punishment.
In response, Talal Chaudhry confirmed that Assistant Directors were also among those dismissed and assured that the list of acquitted individuals could be provided to the Senate.
