Urban Flooding Alert Issued for Rawalpindi and Islamabad Amid Heavy Rainfall

Islamabad: Authorities have issued an urban flooding advisory for Rawalpindi and Islamabad following heavy rainfall, placing rescue teams on high alert.
According to *Geo News*, Rescue 1122 has been directed to remain on high alert as more intense rainfall is expected in the twin cities. Emergency personnel have been deployed around the banks of Nullah Lai and other low-lying areas.
Officials confirmed the deployment of rescue workers in flood-prone areas such as Katarian, Gawalmandi, and other vulnerable locations to manage any emergency situations effectively.
Authorities have urged the public to take precautionary measures:
Parents are advised to keep children away from Nullah Lai and electric poles.
* Citizens should relocate to safer areas ahead of any potential urban flooding.
* Avoid standing under weak or dilapidated rooftops during the rain.
* Refrain from crossing streams or stormwater drains during rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of WASA reported that over 80 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Islamabad and Rawalpindi since last night. As per the latest data, water levels in Nullah Lai have reached 15 feet at Katarian and 11 feet at Gawalmandi Bridge.
The Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall in the coming days, further increasing the risk of flooding.
