Unusual Cloudburst in Chilas Sparks Awe Among Locals: ‘A River Erupted from the Mountains’

Chilas: A recent cloudburst in the Thak Nullah area of Chilas has left locals stunned, with many describing the resulting flash flood and destruction as “unnatural” and “bizarre.”
In a viral video aired by Geo News, a local resident recounted an eyewitness account shared by his cousin. According to him, a massive flame of lightning struck from the sky — its tail still visible in the clouds while its head hit a dry mountain. Following the lightning strike, a sudden gush of water erupted from all sides of the mountain, forming an instant river that quickly turned into a devastating flood.
Even after 24 hours, the floodwaters had receded, but water continued to flow from the mountains,” the resident added, expressing disbelief over the strange phenomenon.
Locals further stated that while they had witnessed floods, storms, and heavy rainfall during their forefathers’ time, the intensity and nature of this recent flood were unlike anything they had ever seen before.
It is worth noting that the video being circulated is from 2 to 3 weeks ago. The cloudburst in Chilas caused significant loss of life and property in the area.
