PM Shehbaz Directs NDMA to Intensify Relief Efforts Amid Rain and Flood Devastation

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an emergency meeting to review the recent heavy rains and flash floods that have caused widespread destruction in northern parts of Pakistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the meeting, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik, briefed the Prime Minister on the damages caused by cloudbursts and flash floods, as well as the progress of ongoing rescue and relief operations.
According to the official statement, PM Shehbaz directed NDMA to continue close coordination with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), ensuring full support for rescue and relief efforts. He emphasized that **all available resources must be utilized** to assist those affected.
The Prime Minister ordered the immediate dispatch of **tents, medicines, food supplies, and other relief items** to the flood-hit areas, instructing NDMA to transport the aid using trucks without delay. He also stressed the urgent evacuation of stranded individuals, including tourists, to safe locations.
PM Shehbaz was briefed on the extent of damage and the progress of rescue efforts during the session.
Telephonic Conversation with KP Leadership
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke via telephone with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. He expressed **deep sorrow over the loss of lives** caused by the cloudbursts and flash floods in the province.
During his conversation with the KP Chief Minister, the Prime Minister assured that the **federal government will provide full support**, including the supply of medical aid, tents, and food items.
PM Shehbaz reiterated his instructions to NDMA to assist the provincial government in every possible way, stating, *”Our sympathies are with the victims in this difficult time.
