CTD Kills 3 TTP Terrorists in Peshawar, Foils Major Attacks on Independence Night

PESHAWAR:The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in the **Regi Lalma area of Peshawar**, killing **three terrorists** affiliated with the **banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)’s foreign network**.
According to CTD officials, one of the slain terrorists has been identified as **Abdullah**, an Afghan national. The group was involved in **18 previous attacks**, including the killing of **martyred DSP Sardar Hussain** and other law enforcement personnel.
During the operation, the CTD recovered a significant cache of weapons including **M4 and M16 rifles, SMGs, IEDs**, and other arms and ammunition. Officials confirmed that the group was planning further attacks at the time of the operation.
Meanwhile, **IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed** provided details of the recent wave of terrorist attempts, stating that **80% of the attacks launched on the night of August 13 and 14 were repelled**.
He added that out of **14 coordinated attacks** by **”Fitna al-Khawarij”**, an Indian-sponsored faction of TTP, **11 were thwarted without any damage**. However, in two incidents, police personnel suffered casualties. He praised the courage of the police and security forces for their decisive and brave response.
*”The cowardly terrorist attempts on the eve of Independence Day clearly show the malicious intent of Indian-backed militants. Our valiant officers have once again proved their commitment to the motherland,”* IG Hameed stated.
He emphasized that **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police** remain fully capable of delivering a **decisive response to any act of terrorism**.
