Targeted Operation Against Terrorists Launched in Bajaur, Curfew Imposed in Several Areas

Peshawar: A targeted operation by security forces against terrorists has officially begun in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation, which started on August 11, 2025, has led to the imposition of strict movement restrictions in certain areas, with curfews ranging from 12 to 72 hours in effect.
According to a notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department, Section 144 will be enforced on specific roads, including Kharmonda Road, Khar Naogai Road, Khar Pasht Salarzai Road, and Khar Sadiqabad Inayat Khel Road, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on August 11.
Prime Minister’s Special Advisor for Tribal Areas, Mubarak Khan Zeb, stated, “I am in continuous contact with the district administration and Deputy Commissioner Bajaur during the Mamond operation. Affected families are not being left alone; they are being provided with immediate accommodation, food, and basic facilities in schools.”
Another notification revealed that from 11:00 AM on August 11 to 11:00 AM on August 14, a complete curfew will be imposed in areas including Lagari, Gwati, Ghanam Shah, Bad Siyaah, Kamar, Amanta, Zagai, Gat, Gundei, Garigal, Nayeg Kelli, Ragi, Dog, Damadola, Sultan Beg, Chotra, Shainkot, Gang, Jwar, Inam Khoro, Changi, Anga, Safri, Bar Gatki, Khidki, Shakro, and Bagro, with strict prohibition on public movement or road access.

The administration has instructed the public to complete all essential tasks by 10:30 AM and remain indoors during the curfew period. Any violation will be the responsibility of the individuals involved.
According to sources, several families have already evacuated the area, while many others have been relocated to government camps. The migration process began after a final meeting on Friday between local militants and the Bajaur Peace Jirga regarding the repatriation of militants to Afghanistan failed to yield a resolution.
The district administration has allocated 107 educational institutions (mostly in the Khar Tehsil) as shelters for displaced individuals, providing them with essential services and support.
