PSL Ranked Second Most Entertaining T20 League in the World by BBC

Karachi – The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been ranked as the second most entertaining franchise cricket league in the world, according to a recent report by BBC Sport.
The analysis, conducted in collaboration with cricket analytics firm *Crickviz*, evaluated major T20 and short-format leagues across various metrics of performance and entertainment value. These included the Indian Premier League (IPL), South Africa’s SA20, Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), UAE’s International League T20 (ILT20), and England’s The Hundred.
According to the report, PSL stood out with the highest average first-innings score per match (180), narrowly edging out the IPL’s 179. Additionally, 27.5% of PSL matches were decided in the final over, second only to the IPL’s 28.9%, showcasing the league’s penchant for thrilling finishes. PSL also ranked second in average number of boundaries (fours and sixes) per match.
In terms of international experience, the PSL had an average of 351 international caps among players per match, the second-highest among all leagues, following ILT20, which benefited from a high number of overseas players.
The BBC highlighted that the PSL consistently delivers high-scoring and thrilling matches, drawing participation from some of the world’s top cricketing talent. Since its inception in 2016, the PSL has quickly risen to become a major fixture in the global cricket calendar, with six city-based teams and a strong reputation for producing emerging Pakistani talent.
In the overall “Entertainment Index”—a composite score based on all measured metrics—the IPL topped the list with a score of 4.53 out of 5, while the PSL followed with 3.90. ILT20 came third (2.44), followed by The Hundred, CPL, SA20, and the BBL ranking last.
This recognition cements the PSL’s growing stature as one of the premier T20 leagues globally, known for its competitive edge, star-studded rosters, and electrifying gameplay.
