Najam Sethi Reveals the Truth Behind Khawaja Asif’s Resignation and the Removal of His Friend ADC-R

Lahore: Senior journalist Najam Sethi has made significant revelations regarding the resignation of Federal Minister for Defense, Khawaja Asif, and the controversy surrounding his bureaucratic ties. Sethi clarified the facts behind Asif’s recent tweets about bureaucracy and his alleged resignation, shedding light on the behind-the-scenes developments.
According to Sethi, Khawaja Asif has a close friend who was once a returning officer and is currently serving as an ADC-R (Assistant District Commissioner Revenue) in Sialkot. Sethi explained that Asif had a financial debt to this friend and had been attempting to resolve an issue related to a property dispute. The dispute involves a company and some businessmen who own land that Khawaja Asif wished to acquire. When the issue became complicated, the ADC-R took matters into his own hands, pushing for the land transfer. This led to a series of legal cases, and the ADC-R was eventually detained.
Sethi revealed that Asif, furious over the situation, began making threats to have the ADC-R released. He stated that Asif had connections with several bureaucrats, as did the company involved in the land dispute, and they leveraged these ties to get the ADC-R released. According to Sethi, Asif’s outburst about the bureaucracy was a response to this situation.
Sethi further explained that Khawaja Asif, in an attempt to protect his friend, raised a public uproar, even insinuating that he would resign from his position. However, the resignation was not genuine. Sethi explained that those around Asif intervened, convincing him to back down from the resignation and ensuring that his friend was released. Once the matter was resolved, Asif denied ever offering his resignation, calling it a mere “game” to shift the attention from the bureaucratic issue.
Sethi concluded that Khawaja Asif, in moments of anger, often makes strong statements that he later regrets, and his current outbursts against the bureaucracy were part of this pattern of emotional responses.
