Balochistan Food Authority Seizes Thousands of Fake and Harmful Spices from “National” Brand

Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has conducted a major crackdown against food adulteration and health hazards by seizing thousands of packets of fake and substandard spices from the well-known “National” brand in Quetta.
The operation was carried out based on a tip-off at two wholesale traders in New Adda and Satellite Town, where large quantities of counterfeit spices were confiscated. According to Director Operations, Mohammad Riaz Nasir, these fake spices were being illegally transported from other provinces to Quetta and then distributed across various towns and cities of Balochistan.
The packaging, labeling, and branding of the seized packets were designed in such a way that it was extremely difficult for consumers to differentiate between authentic and counterfeit products. As a result, both traders involved in the operation were immediately sealed due to severe violations of regulations and the risk posed to public health.

Further investigations are underway to track down the main suppliers and distributors behind this network. Balochistan Food Authority’s Director-General, Waqar Khurshid Alam, stated that those involved in the trade of fake and substandard food products would not be spared. He assured the public that continuous actions would be taken to ensure the supply of safe and high-quality food in the province.
The authority also stressed the serious health risks posed by food adulteration and reassured the public that they were taking comprehensive steps to provide safe and unadulterated food. Efforts to trace the factories and major distributors involved in producing fake spices will be intensified, and strict legal action will be taken against them.
Balochistan Food Authority has appealed to the public to check packaging, labeling, and expiry dates when purchasing food products. Any suspicious product or supplier should be immediately reported to the authority’s helpline at 0333-4664507 for prompt action.
