476 Terrorist Incidents Reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in First 7 Months of 2023

Peshawar:In the first seven months of 2023, **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa** witnessed a surge in terrorist incidents, with a total of **476** incidents reported across the province. According to police documents, **North Waziristan** recorded the highest number of incidents with **77** reported attacks, followed by **Bannu** with **74** incidents, **Lakki Marwat** with **48**, and **Dera Ismail Khan** with **44** terrorist activities.
The report highlights the heavy toll of these incidents, with **121 civilians** martyred and **301 others** wounded. Among security forces, a total of **66 police officers** were martyred and **90 were injured**. **10 khasadar forces** also lost their lives, while **8 were injured**. The **FC (Frontier Corps)** reported **48 martyrs** and **109 injuries**, while **55 military personnel** were martyred and **112 wounded**.
The city of **Bannu** saw the highest number of casualties among police officers, with **15 police officials** martyred and **16 wounded**, followed by **Lakki Marwat** with **9 martyrs**, and **South Waziristan** and **Peshawar** each with **6 martyrs**.
**IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa** Zulfiqar Hamid spoke to Geo News, stating that in response to the escalating terrorism in southern districts, the police have been equipped with modern weapons. Strengthening of police checkpoints and stations is also ongoing, with a noticeable difference expected soon.
According to the **Central Police Office**, **2289 police officers** and personnel have been martyred in the line of duty across the province since the inception of the war on terror.
The ongoing conflict in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to take a heavy toll on both civilians and law enforcement, with authorities working to combat the growing threat of terrorism in the region.
