Islamabad: An anti-terrorism court in Faisalabad has sentenced 108 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers, including National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub and Senate Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz, to 10 years in prison each in connection with the May 9 riots case.
According to the verdict, key PTI figures such as Zartaj Gul and Sahibzada Hamid Raza also received 10-year prison sentences, while provincial assembly member Junaid Afzal Sahi was sentenced to three years.
Meanwhile, former federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi, and Khayal Kastro have been acquitted and cleared of all charges in the same case.
The verdict marks a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding the May 9 incidents, which stemmed from violent protests following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
