Controversial Tweet Against Institutions: Azam Swati’s Indictment Delayed

Islamabad: The indictment proceedings against PTI leader Azam Swati in the cases related to his controversial tweet against national institutions have been postponed.
According to Express News, the District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad deferred the indictment proceedings in two cases against Senator Azam Swati related to a controversial tweet against the national security institutions. During the hearing in front of Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, the court could not proceed with arguments on Swati’s plea for acquittal today.
At the hearing, Azam Swati addressed the court, saying, “I want to say something in court today. I have been in the Senate since 2003. My constant effort has been to strengthen the judiciary. I regret that we couldn’t help make your hands stronger.”
The court directed Swati’s lawyers to present their arguments on the acquittal plea in the next hearing and adjourned the case until September 20. On the day of the hearing, Azam Swati was accompanied by his lawyers, Murtaza Torri and Sohail Swati.
It is worth noting that two cases have been registered against Azam Swati under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
