University of Balochistan Facing Severe Financial Crisis, Struggling for Survival: VC Appeals to Chief Minister

Quetta: The University of Balochistan is grappling with a severe financial crisis, administrative issues, and educational challenges, putting its survival at risk. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sardar Fazal Baloch, the Vice Chancellor (VC) has highlighted the deteriorating situation of the institution and emphasized the urgent need for government intervention.
The letter reveals that the university has been unable to pay pensions and dues to employees who retired back in 2019. Additionally, essential expenditures such as Ph.D. thesis evaluations, examination costs, stationery, and other bills have been pending for the past five years.
Currently, over 10,000 students are enrolled at the university, which offers 53 departments, 6 faculties, and several specialized research centers. However, insufficient funding and rising expenses have pushed the institution to the brink of collapse.
The Vice Chancellor has urged the Chief Minister to provide immediate financial assistance to save the university, which has been a cornerstone of educational hope for the youth of Balochistan for several decades.
