Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Takes Notice of Margat Honor Killing Incident

Quetta: Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Rozi Khan Bareech, has taken suo motu notice of the reported killing of a man and woman in Margat Degari, allegedly for marrying by choice.
According to an official statement issued by the High Court, the Chief Justice acted upon reports and video footage circulated on print and social media, which detailed the brutal murder of the couple, who were reportedly shot dead for contracting a love marriage.
In response, the Chief Justice has summoned the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the Inspector General of Police, Balochistan, to appear before the High Court on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The court is expected to seek a detailed explanation and immediate action over the incident, which has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of laws against honor-based violence.
