Khawaja Asif Criticizes Imran Khan Over Jail Complaints, Recalls Harsh Prison Conditions

Islamabad:Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has indirectly criticized former Prime Minister Imran Khan over his complaints about jail conditions, saying that the lack of access to newspapers and TV is part of the suffering inmates face.

In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Khawaja Asif recounted his own experience in prison, stating, *“Everyone gets a TV in jail, but only PTV is available. No newspapers are allowed. Ask us – you were the one who sent us to jail.”*

He went on to describe the harsh conditions he faced, saying, *“In the cold month of January, we were given only one blanket to sleep on the bare floor.”*

Referring to limited family contact, he added, *“I kept asking to meet my wife – they treated it like I was visiting in-laws. Nawaz Sharif kept requesting to talk to his wife, but she passed away.”*

Taking a jab at Imran Khan’s past rhetoric, Asif remarked, *“He used to make bold claims from the US, and now he complains about the jail facilities being taken away. That’s how it goes in these kinds of affairs.”*

Asif’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the treatment of political leaders in custody and the standards of prison conditions in Pakistan.
