Quetta:Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, attended a video-link meeting with the Federal Ministry of Maritime Affairs on Thursday, where key matters regarding the development of Gwadar, public amenities, and employment opportunities for the youth were discussed.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti highlighted the importance of launching a ferry service between Gwadar and Oman, stating that the government was seriously considering the initiative. He explained that this service would not only facilitate the movement of pilgrims but also ease travel for the local population. “This initiative will significantly strengthen regional connectivity,” he remarked, assuring full support from the Balochistan government for the project.
The Chief Minister also lauded the installation of a water plant by the Gwadar Port Authority, which aims to provide 1.2 million gallons of clean drinking water to the city’s residents daily. This project is seen as a vital step toward solving the long-standing water scarcity issue in the region.
Further discussing youth empowerment, CM Bugti expressed the provincial government’s commitment to providing world-class training to young people. Through collaboration with the Pak-China Technical Vocational Center, the Balochistan government is training 30,000 youth in various skills, helping them secure employment abroad. “Empowering Balochistan’s youth with dignified jobs is the key to a prosperous future for the province,” he added.
The Chief Minister also stressed that the Balochistan government would extend full cooperation in ensuring the complete operationalization of the Gwadar Port, which he described as a cornerstone for the national economy. He assured that all proposed development projects under the Gwadar Port Authority would receive full support to ensure the port plays a pivotal role in the country’s economic growth.
“Gwadar’s progress is, in fact, the progress of Balochistan, and we are committed to utilizing every possible resource and measure to achieve this goal,” CM Bugti concluded.
