Imran Khan’s Imprisonment Is His Biggest Political Card, Says Hamid Mir

Islamabad:Senior journalist Hamid Mir has claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s imprisonment is his most powerful political asset at the moment.

Speaking on a private TV channel, *Suno News*, Mir stated that the longer Imran Khan remains in jail, the more the current government’s failures will be exposed. “As long as he stays behind bars, his political position outside of Pakistan will continue to strengthen, while the government remains on the defensive,” he said.

Mir further criticized the ruling coalition, saying some of its leaders lack understanding of international politics. “In reality, this government is playing into Imran Khan’s hands,” he added.

Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been in prison since 2023 on multiple charges. His continued detention has become a focal point of both domestic political debate and international human rights discussions.
