PML-N’s Hina Parvez Butt Reacts to Alleged Arrest of Citizen Who Criticized Government During Rainstorm

Lahore: PML-N leader Hina Parvez Butt stirred controversy on social media after reacting to the alleged arrest of a man whose video criticizing the government during heavy rainfall in Lahore recently went viral.
The citizen was filmed riding his motorcycle through flooded roads caused by blocked drainage during the rain. In the video, he harshly criticized the government for poor infrastructure and mismanagement. The footage quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing public attention.
Shortly after the video went viral, another image surfaced allegedly showing the same man sitting inside a police vehicle, prompting speculation that he had been arrested for his public criticism.
Adding to the confusion, a follow-up video was shared in which the same individual appeared apologetic, seemingly retracting his earlier remarks against the government. PML-N’s Hina Parvez Butt shared the apology video with a caption that read, “Isn’t this the same guy who was ranting yesterday? Where did all that enthusiasm go?”

Her remarks sparked backlash, with critics accusing the government of suppressing free speech. PTI leader Dr. Shahbaz Gill also weighed in, condemning the alleged arrest and saying, “This country is being ruled through fear. Every act of oppression is being documented. When Imran Khan returns to power, there will be accountability for these injustices.”
The incident has ignited a fresh debate over freedom of expression and alleged political victimization under the current government.
