Imran Wasim Faces Backlash from PTI Supporters Over Suggestion to Include Tyrian in Protest Movement
Lahore: Prominent journalist Imran Wasim found himself at the center of a social media storm after suggesting on X (formerly Twitter) that Tyrian White be included in the PTI protest movement alongside Salman Qasim. The remark triggered a fierce backlash from PTI supporters, prompting the journalist to issue a follow-up statement addressing the criticism.
In his original post, Imran Wasim wrote, “If Tyrian joins the protest movement alongside Qasim Sulaiman, it would inject an unbeatable spirit into the movement.”
The comment, which many interpreted as controversial, led to a wave of harsh responses from PTI’s online supporters. In response, Wasim posted another message defending his earlier statement, expressing frustration over the personal attacks.
He wrote, “Even when you speak in favor of PTI, their social media warriors come after you, hurling abuse. There was nothing offensive in my post. I merely mentioned Tyrian’s potential participation in the protest with Salman Qasim — no insults or inappropriate language — yet I was still attacked. Is this the awareness Imran Khan has instilled in his supporters? If hurling abuse and foul language is what they call awareness, then congratulations to them.”
The controversy has sparked debate over the limits of free expression, the role of political commentary, and the aggressive behavior of some social media factions within political movements.
