Former Miss Grand Malaysia Accuses Priest of Sexual Harassment at Temple

Kuala Lumpur: Former Miss Grand Malaysia, actress, and model Lishalini Kanaran, has made shocking allegations of sexual harassment against a priest at the Mariamman Temple in Selangor.
Lishalini, who had been reconnecting with her faith and visiting the temple regularly to learn about traditional rituals, claims that she trusted the priest who was guiding her. In a post on Instagram, she detailed a disturbing encounter that occurred on June 1. The priest allegedly gave her sacred water and a protective thread after a prayer session and later invited her to meet him in his office.

Upon arriving at the office, Lishalini said the priest sprayed her with fragrant water that caused irritation in her eyes. He then reportedly made inappropriate advances, demanding that she remove her blouse. When she refused, the priest allegedly attempted to force himself on her.
Lishalini managed to escape and, on July 4, filed a police report after confiding in her mother. However, during the investigation, the temple administration claimed to be unaware of the priest’s actions.
Lishalini shared a message on social media, stating that she is speaking out to encourage others to not remain silent, hoping to prevent similar harassment in the future.
