PTI Internal Disputes Resurface: MPA Files Defamation Suit Against Senior Leader Fawad Chaudhry Claiming Rs. 1 Billion Damages

Islamabad: Internal disputes within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have once again come to the forefront as a member of the National Assembly (MPA) has filed a defamation lawsuit against senior party leader and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, claiming damages worth one billion rupees.
According to Express News, Sheikh Waqas Akram, PTI’s central Information Secretary, has lodged the lawsuit against Fawad Chaudhry in the District and Sessions Court, Islamabad. Akram alleges that Chaudhry made false and defamatory statements on social media platforms, damaging his reputation.
The petition states that Akram, an elected representative of the public in the National Assembly, has suffered harm to his dignity and public image due to the baseless remarks made by Fawad Chaudhry. Akram claims that these statements have negatively impacted his standing among the public.
Additional Sessions Judge Sohail Sheikh has taken up the defamation suit and has sought initial arguments in the case. The court has adjourned the hearing until July 12 for further proceedings.
