Punjab Government Imposes Mobile Phone Ban for Hospital Staff Below Grade 18

Lahore: The Punjab Health Department has issued a directive banning mobile phone usage for all hospital staff below Grade 18 in government hospitals. The ban applies specifically to emergency departments, intensive care units (ICUs), and operating theaters.

According to a circular from the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, the use of pagers is now mandatory in place of mobile phones for staff in these areas. The memo stresses the importance of ensuring a comprehensive and effective emergency care system across hospitals.

The department has also emphasized the need for nursing students to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) when administering IV injections.

Furthermore, the memo instructs that all hospital staff must comply with the “Blue” and “Red Code” protocols to ensure better coordination and preparedness in critical situations.
