AI-Based System to Monitor and Improve Road Network in Balochistan: A Major Step Towards Technological Advancement
In a significant development for Balochistan’s infrastructure, a crucial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mir Sardar Fateh Bgtai at the Department of Communications and Works. The meeting focused on the implementation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based system to assess and monitor the road network in the province.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary of Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Jan, Additional Chief Secretary Development Zahid Saleem, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Babar Khan, Spokesperson for the Balochistan Government Shahid Randh, Secretary of IT Ayaz Khan Mandokhel, and Secretary of Communications Lal Jan Jaffar.
During the briefing, the Chief Minister was informed about the proposed AI-driven system aimed at evaluating the condition of roads and monitoring their maintenance. The new system is expected to provide effective monitoring in remote and underdeveloped areas of Balochistan, marking an important step towards improving the province’s road infrastructure.
Mir Sardar Fateh Bgtai acknowledged that road maintenance in remote areas of Balochistan has always been a major challenge. However, he emphasized that the use of advanced technology could ensure transparent and continuous monitoring of development projects. The Chief Minister stated that digital and smart solutions are now necessary, moving beyond traditional methods of oversight to ensure that projects are completed in line with on-the-ground realities.
He also highlighted that the deteriorating condition of roads causes significant difficulties for the public, making it a priority for the government to improve road infrastructure. He assured that the effective use of technology would not only prevent financial wastage but also ensure that the quality, duration, and sustainability of projects are upheld without compromise.
The Chief Minister further instructed that consultations be held to make the AI-based road network assessment system feasible, with a final decision to be made after reviewing all aspects of the proposal.
This move marks a major step toward the modernization of infrastructure management in Balochistan, offering the promise of better roads and improved transportation for its people.
