Is PTI’s Government About to Fall? KP Becomes New Political Battleground Amid Rising Tensions

Peshawar: The debate over whether the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will be toppled or not is heating up in political circles across the country. While crucial government meetings continue, the Chief Minister of KP, Ali Amin Gandapur, has also issued a bold challenge in this regard, escalating political temperatures.
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has clarified that there are no plans to introduce a no-confidence motion against PTI’s provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He further denied any discussions with Maulana Fazlur Rehman about toppling the government.
Speaking on a private TV channel, Rana Sanaullah explained that the government had offered negotiations multiple times, but PTI persistently rejected them. “PTI has always relied on the establishment for its politics. Now, they seek the same support to return to power, but that dream will never come true,” he stated.
He added, “Had PTI not broken its alliances, the tragic events of May 9 might not have happened. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif even offered to meet PTI leaders in the Speaker’s chamber, but PTI kept the doors of dialogue closed. PTI wants to run democracy through deadlock, not through dialogue.”
Rana Sanaullah also emphasized that the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the political legacy of its founding chairman are being well managed by Ali Amin Gandapur. “If PTI holds peaceful protests without violating the law, it is their democratic right,” he stated.
In the midst of these discussions, Governor of KP, Faisal Karim Kundi, and President of the Awami National Party (ANP), Asfandyar Wali Khan, held crucial meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Following these talks, Governor Kundi stated that if the opposition holds a majority, changing the government is their constitutional right, and it should not be termed a conspiracy. He also mentioned that the restoration of reserved seats had been discussed, and pointed out that Gandapur’s own party members could be enough to plot against him.
Furthermore, during a meeting with Asfandyar Wali Khan, various federal ministers and special assistants were also present to discuss the country’s political situation in detail.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has distanced himself from any potential no-confidence movement against the KP government. Sources revealed that a message from Maulana Fazlur Rehman was delivered to PTI’s founder, currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, through his sisters during a jail visit. The message stated that Maulana had been approached to help topple the government, but he had declined.
In this tense political climate, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has responded aggressively. He declared unequivocally that no one will be able to overthrow his government through unconstitutional means. He challenged, “If my government is toppled, I will quit politics forever.”
