JUI-F Challenges Mines and Minerals Act in Balochistan High Court

Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has challenged the Mines and Minerals Act in the Balochistan High Court.
Senator Kamran Murtaza, in his statement, expressed reservations about the approval of the Act by the Balochistan Assembly and emphasized that all constitutional measures would be taken to oppose it. He further stated that the Standing Committee chairmanship belonged to them, and the bill was passed in the absence of the chairman. “The Mines and Minerals Act will be repealed, and the federal government’s claim over Balochistan’s mineral resources is unacceptable. The resources belong to the people of Balochistan, and we will not allow any injustice,” he added.
“Our Members Were Deceived”
Meanwhile, JUI-F Balochistan Amir, Senator Maulana Abdul Wasee, stated that the Mines and Minerals Act had been challenged in the Balochistan High Court. He affirmed that the party would raise its voice against the Act on every forum.
Maulana Abdul Wasee warned that if the Act is implemented, the people of Balochistan will not be able to live there. “Due to our opposition, the Balochistan Mines and Minerals Bill was withdrawn from both the National Assembly and the Senate,” he said.
He also claimed that JUI-F members were deceived during the approval process of the Act in the Balochistan Assembly.
