Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Assures Disparity Allowance for Public Employees, Protest Ends

Peshawar: Government employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa called off their protest at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Chowk after receiving assurance from the provincial government regarding the payment of the Disparity Allowance.
The protest, which lasted for six hours, was staged by government employees demanding the Disparity Allowance and other issues. The employees blocked Khyber Road, leading to a shutdown of traffic heading towards the Red Zone.
A government delegation, led by Provincial Minister for Agriculture Sajad Barakwal, held talks with the protesting employees and reassured them that as soon as the federal government issued the notification for the Disparity Allowance, the provincial government would follow suit and make its own announcement.
After the government’s assurance, the employees insisted on a written agreement before ending the protest. When the police threatened to take action for not opening Khyber Road, the protesters peacefully dispersed and the road was reopened to traffic after six hours.
