“Marriage is Not the Solution to Every Problem, Stop Playing with Girls’ Lives: Waseem Badami”

Karachi: TV host Waseem Badami recently expressed his views on societal issues, stating that marriage should not be seen as the solution to every problem. He emphasized that, at times, parents marry off their sons to avoid their responsibilities, a decision that often results in harm to their daughters.
According to Dawn, Badami appeared on the popular TV show Ramz hosted by Goher Rashid, where he discussed various topics openly.
In response to a question, Waseem Badami highlighted the emotional side of men, saying that while people often tell men to “be a man,” it is not true masculinity to become completely insensitive to emotional matters. He stressed that being emotionally detached is not strength but a form of indifference.
On the topic of marriages, he pointed out that many parents, instead of addressing the real issues of their sons, choose to marry them off. He argued that such a decision is harmful, not only to the men but also to the women involved. A person already burdened with life’s challenges may not be ready to take on the significant responsibility of marriage. Badami said that these kinds of marriages often lead to unhappy endings, with the most adverse impact falling on women.
Badami expressed regret over the fact that many parents marry off their sons to escape their responsibilities, without realizing that it can sometimes ruin a young woman’s life. He said that what begins as one life at risk ultimately affects two lives, and parents should not be so selfish.
He urged parents to reflect before marrying off their sons, asking them to consider if they would make the same decision if it were their own daughter in question. He made it clear that he is not against marriage, but believes that it should not be considered a blanket solution to all problems.
Additionally, Badami stressed the importance of fostering friendly relationships between parents and children. He emphasized that while parents should remain authority figures, they should also build rapport with their children, ensuring that the children do not misbehave. He believes it is time to break down societal barriers and promote a more understanding and compassionate approach within families.
During the show, Badami shared that he also tries to spend quality time with his own son to maintain a friendly and understanding relationship.
