Tulsi Gabbard Claims Iran Could Develop Nuclear Weapons in Weeks, Accuses Media of Misrepresentation

Washington: Tulsi Gabbard, Director of U.S. National Intelligence, has claimed that the United States possesses intelligence suggesting Iran could develop nuclear weapons within a matter of weeks if it chooses to do so.
Gabbard accused the media of misrepresenting her statements made in March during a Senate committee hearing. At the time, she had stated that the U.S. intelligence community believed Iran was not currently pursuing the development of nuclear weapons.
This claim comes at a time when President Donald Trump has publicly stated twice that Gabbard may be misinterpreting Iran’s intentions.
Meanwhile, Iran has repeatedly emphasized that its nuclear program is entirely for peaceful purposes and that it has the right to enrich uranium for peaceful uses.
