PM Shehbaz Sharif: Export-Oriented Economy Through Industrial Growth is Top Priority

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that the development of an export-oriented economy through industrial growth is the government’s top priority.
Chairing a high-level meeting on national industries, the Prime Minister stated that industry holds a central role in boosting national exports and that the growth of local industries is essential for achieving sustainable economic development based on exports.
He further stressed the importance of equipping domestic industries with a globally competitive workforce and modern technology. “Investment in the country will be promoted through the tariff rationalization policy,” he said.
Highlighting past issues, the Prime Minister noted that inconsistent industrial policies had hindered industrial progress. He expressed confidence that the government’s effective policies would elevate the industrial sector to new heights. “Recent economic policies have been developed keeping in view the needs of national industries,” he added.
PM Shehbaz directed that the industrial policy be finalized at the earliest to sustainably resolve challenges faced by the manufacturing sector and to increase industrial output. Recommendations for boosting industrial development were also presented during the meeting.
Officials briefed the Prime Minister that a robust industrial policy would help revive the country’s manufacturing sector. PM Shehbaz instructed that the policy be finalized with input from all relevant stakeholders.
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahsan Iqbal, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, and senior officials from related departments attended the meeting.
PM Lauds Pakistani Schools for Global Recognition, Reiterates Commitment to Modern Education
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the achievements of three Pakistani schools that were shortlisted among the top 10 in the world for the World’s Best School Prizes 2025 under the “Community Collaboration” category.
The recognized institutions include Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust Higher Secondary School (Lahore), Beaconhouse College Harrogram (Juniper Campus, Quetta), and Nordic International School (Lahore).
The Prime Minister commended the administration, teachers, and students of these schools, noting their excellence in modern curriculum, research, technology, environmental awareness, and contributions to the development of underprivileged and rural areas. “These institutions have made the nation proud on the global stage and are a beacon of inspiration for us all,” he said.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting modern education across Pakistan.
