Security Measures Tightened for Large Bank Withdrawals in Karachi: Bulletproof Jackets and Police Escort Mandatory

Karachi – In a major move to protect bank customers from robberies during large cash withdrawals, Karachi Police has issued new security guidelines. According to the advisory, anyone withdrawing 500,000 rupees or more from a bank must now ensure security arrangements. Bank managers are required to call the local police station directly to request protection for such transactions.
In addition, banks have been instructed to make their branches mobile, enhancing security flexibility. The advisory also mandates that security guards at banks wear bulletproof jackets for added protection. Furthermore, the deployment of trained security personnel is now a requirement, along with the installation of new 8-megapixel cameras at both internal and external bank entrances.
Banks must also monitor non-customers closely and ensure that security guards are hired from registered companies. The advisory stresses that even on government holidays, security guards must remain at the banks to safeguard customer transactions.
These measures are designed to enhance public safety and prevent incidents of robbery, particularly for customers withdrawing significant amounts of cash.
