President Zardari Urges Collective Action on Climate Change, Highlights Pakistan’s Vulnerability on World Environment Day

President **Asif Ali Zardari** has emphasized that **Pakistan remains one of the countries most affected by climate change**, despite contributing less than 1% to global carbon emissions. In his message on **World Environment Day**, the President called for **global climate justice** and **strong international support** to help countries like Pakistan cope with mounting environmental challenges.

According to a statement from the **Presidency’s Press Wing**, President Zardari said:

> “Every year, we face devastating floods, droughts, and heatwaves that displace millions. This imbalance highlights the urgent need for global climate fairness.”

He stressed that **despite limited resources**, Pakistan is taking **measurable steps to combat climate challenges**, aligning its efforts with the broader **economic transformation strategy, “Uraan Pakistan.”**

President Zardari highlighted the significance of World Environment Day as a **reminder to protect the planet** and **ensure a sustainable future** for coming generations. He urged all individuals and institutions to come together to create a **greener, cleaner Pakistan**.

> “Let us commit to daily actions that positively impact our environment—reduce plastic use, promote afforestation, practice recycling, and adopt eco-friendly policies,” he added.

In a call for nationwide unity, the President encouraged **citizens, civil society, and organizations** to work collectively towards **environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and responsible use of natural resources**.

The message comes at a time when Pakistan continues to experience extreme climate events, and global pressure mounts for equitable environmental cooperation.
