Ensuring Children’s Safety Is a Collective Responsibility: CM Maryam Nawaz

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has emphasized that ensuring the safety and well-being of children is a collective responsibility. In her message on the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, she highlighted the plight of children affected by violence, conflict, and aggression worldwide.
“Today is a day to understand the life and psychological challenges of children suffering due to violence and wars,” she said. “We must build a society where children can grow in a peaceful environment free from fear and aggression.”
Condemning global silence on ongoing atrocities, she said, “The thousands of bodies buried under the rubble in Gaza are a tragic testament to the world’s indifference to Israeli aggression, while the skies of Kashmir remain heavy with the cries of children silenced forever. The suffering of children affected by aggression is a dark chapter in human history.”
She further stated that children are not only victims in war zones but also face aggression in times of peace. “The protection of children should be a shared mission. In Palestine and Kashmir, innocent children are victims of Israeli and Indian aggression.”
Highlighting provincial efforts, the Chief Minister announced that for the first time, the Punjab Cabinet has approved a comprehensive Child Protection Policy. “We must all come together to safeguard children’s rights and secure their present and future,” she added.
